How to get the green tick

Now you’ve connected WhatsApp, your next question is probably “How can I make my business name (not number) show up?” Here we show you how.

Updated over 2 months ago

By default, all accounts are shown as a number:

You’ll need an Offical Business Account (OBA) for your name and green tick to display:

Requesting an OBA

Step 1: Prepare your account

  • Business Verification: MISSING

  • Display name: is approved if not specifically stated in your profile that its not

  • 2FA: ask your CSM

Step 2: Send OBA request support ticket to Meta

Where to find it?

  1. Find your WhatsApp Business Manager Your WA Business Manager

  2. Find option to submit request in the Profile Tab

What to look out for?

Meta requires business to be Notable: Represents a well-known business, often searched brand or entity

This means you need to write convincing paragraph why you are famous and use all optional link fields to link UNPAID articles from large news media outlets - more info below. (If you are not covered in media yet, you chances will be small to get accepted)

What makes me notable?

Meta: “Notability, on the other hand, reflects substantial presence in online news articles. Notability is assessed based on an account’s presence in news articles from publications with sizable audiences. We do not consider paid or promotional content as sources for review, including business or app listings.”

Reason for request:

Dear Meta Team, I'm writing to you requesting an Official Business Account for our brand charles - WhatsApp account ID: 10XXXXXXXXXX60. charles is a well know online marketing startup that has been extensively covered in national and international news media (links attached).

Our over 100k followers on both Instagram and Facebook prove we have a large engaged customer base that follows and searches for us online. With the OBA we hope to further grow our subscriber base and expand out activity on the WhatsApp channel. Thanks you very much for the consideration!

Denied Requests

If your OBA request has been denied, it means Meta has reviewed your account, and unfortunately, your account is not eligible for the OBA status at this time. Currently, these decisions cannot be appealed.

Businesses can continue to grow their presence and wait 30 days before submitting another Official Business Account request. It may take time to build the business's presence in news articles as described above.
