Apply for an Official Business Account (blue tick)

Show your customers they’re interacting with a unique, verified business on WhatsApp. The blue badge helps build credibility and reinforces brand authenticity.

Requesting an OBA (Official Business Account)

Step 1: Make sure your business meets the requirements

To be eligible for OBA, the following criteria must be met:

  • The business complies with the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy

  • The business is registered on the WhatsApp Business Platform for at least 30 days

  • The business represents a notable, well-known, and frequently searched for brand, entity, or organization

  • The Business Verification process has been completed

  • Two-step verification is enabled for the phone number

  • The phone number’s display name has been approved

Step 2: Send OBA request support ticket to Meta

  2. Find option to submit request in the Profile Tab

What to look out for?

Meta requires business to be Notable: Represents a well-known business, often searched brand or entity

This means you need to write convincing paragraph why you are famous and use all optional link fields to link UNPAID articles from large news media outlets - more info below. (If you are not covered in media yet, you chances will be small to get accepted)

What makes me notable?

Meta: “Notability, on the other hand, reflects substantial presence in online news articles. Notability is assessed based on an account’s presence in news articles from publications with sizable audiences. We do not consider paid or promotional content as sources for review, including business or app listings.”

Denied Requests

If your OBA request has been denied, it means Meta has reviewed your account, and unfortunately, your account is not eligible for the OBA status at this time. Currently, these decisions cannot be appealed.

Businesses can continue to grow their presence and wait 30 days before submitting another Official Business Account request. It may take time to build the business's presence in news articles as described above.
