Available Shopify Triggers in Journeys

Below is a list of available Shopify triggers and what each one means:

  • Order Confirmed

Triggered when a customer completes a purchase and their order is successfully confirmed in Shopify.


Use case: Send a thank you message or share order details automatically after a customer places an order.

  • Parcel Sent

Parcel sent is triggered when the order is marked as fulfilled and the parcel is shipped.


Use case: Notify customers that their package is on its way, including tracking info if available.

  • Tracking URL update

Tracking URL update is triggered when the tracking link for an order is updated in Shopify.


Use case: Keep customers informed if shipping details change after dispatch.

  • Abandoned Cart

Triggered when a customer adds items to their cart but does not complete the purchase.


Use case: Send a friendly reminder or incentive to encourage them to return and complete their order.

How to set up a Shopify Trigger

You can trigger automated flows in charles based on key events from your Shopify store.

Here's how to set it up:

  1. Go to Journeys.

  2. Create a new flow and click on “Select Trigger”.

  3. In the trigger options, choose:
    EXTERNAL > Shop System Trigger

  4. Open the dropdown menu and select the Shopify event you want to use (e.g. Order Confirmed, Parcel Sent or Abandoned cart).

Once the trigger is set, you can start building the rest of your flow, adding messages, delays, conditions, and more.
